Torrie’s Experience

I have been going to Camp Pinnacle for 9 years and it has always been the highlight of my summer. At first, actually for 7 years, I was there for the activities and the friends. It wasn’t until the summer of 2012 that I actually realized why God put me at camp. Although I grew up in a Christian home and have been taught the Gospel since I was a little girl, it wasn’t until I went to camp that year that it finally clicked. I realized that year during a Vespers Chapel service, the Love that Christ has for me and that I needed a personal relationship with Him from then on. By listening to a cabin leader, Miss Laura Hamilton’s testimony, God finally spoke to my heart. I tried to say no to what God told me, but you can’t say no to Him. After crying a lot and saying yes to God, I was content with the peace that God had a big plan for me.

Camp for some girls is all fun and games, but for me it’s so much more. It’s a place to worship, a place to draw closer to God, and a place to grow. If I could keep going to camp until I was 97, I really would.  I know now that what I’ve been taught at camp these 9 years has prepared me for future mission work; not just in high school, summer missions, or as a cabin leader in college, but also for the rest of my life as I live for Him.
